LuxGroup: Leading ESG Practices in Sustainable Tourism
ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) is more than just a set of criteria for assessing sustainability—it is a measure of corporate responsibility towards the community. As climate change and environmental preservation become increasingly urgent, adopting ESG standards has become vital for enhancing business reputation, promoting transparency, and gaining a competitive edge.
To underscore the importance of ESG in tourism, LuxGroup organized a workshop on “ESG Practices Towards Sustainable Tourism & Net Zero” on December 6. The event brought together nearly 50 travel businesses and leading experts, including Philip Smith, CEO of Speaking 4 the Planet, Vũ Quốc Trí, Secretary-General of the Vietnam Tourism Association, and Dr. Pham Ha, CEO of LuxGroup.
ESG: From Awareness to Action
During the workshop, experts emphasized that building ESG criteria is not only a solution to combat climate change but also a long-term business strategy. Key questions such as “How can we improve the environment where we live and work?” and “If we don’t act now, who will?” sparked lively and practical discussions.
Participants shared the challenges of implementing ESG, including limited financial resources and the need to shift employee mindsets. However, there was unanimous agreement that ESG requires serious action, step by step, across all levels—from central authorities to local organizations.
The workshop’s guiding motto, “Think Green – Go Green,” and the goal of achieving Net Zero (net-zero carbon emissions) underscored that sustainable development is not just an environmental responsibility but also a business opportunity. Companies adopting ESG can minimize environmental impact, enhance competitiveness, and build a sustainable brand image.
