“The Girl With Pink Lotus”

“The Girl With Pink Lotus”

A Masterpiece by Pham Luc – One-of-a-Kind – One Journey to Own Living Heritage

When Art Leaves the Wall and Floats on the Waters of Cultural Legacy

Some paintings are destined for museums. Some are hung as icons of taste. But a rare few transcend both—they are born to meet the right soul, in the right moment, within the right space.
“The Girl with Pink Lotus” is such a painting—a poetic rendezvous between the artist and a kindred spirit.

Created in 2016, using acrylic on canvas, dimensions 60 x 80 cm, this work is the distilled essence of over five decades of artistic evolution, life experience, and cultural reflection by Pham Luc—widely honored as “the Picasso of Vietnam.”

With bold contours, expressive brushwork, and a refined color harmony, the painting captures the timeless Vietnamese feminine spirit—both tender and resilient, modest yet dignified. The lotus is not merely a flower, but a cultural soul; the red áo dài is not just a garment, but a visual hymn of national pride. The young woman’s gaze is quiet, yet profound—inviting viewers into a realm where memory, identity, and emotion intertwine.

Pham Luc – Vietnam’s Artistic Storyteller of Soul and History

Born in 1943 in Hue, Pham Luc is a towering figure in modern Vietnamese art. A graduate of the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts and a former military artist with 35 years of service, he painted on battlefields, in villages, and among people from all walks of life—turning each canvas into a page of living history.

Pham Luc’s work is not confined to a single style. His art bridges expressionism, social realism, and Eastern aesthetics, enriched by deeply humanist values. His mediums range from oil and acrylic to paper, sackcloth, rice sacks, wood, and even military parachute fabric—imbuing each piece with texture, truth, and tenderness.

He has held over 50 solo exhibitions worldwide, and his works are part of prestigious collections from Hanoi to Paris, Tokyo to New York. Revered as the “Picasso of Vietnam,” Pham Luc does not merely paint—he archives Vietnam’s collective memory in color, form, and feeling.

Inspired by the legendary Binh Chuan ship of 1919, commissioned by entrepreneur Bach Thai Buoi—a national icon of the “Vietnamese sailing Vietnamese ships” spirit—Heritage Bình Chuẩn is more than a cruise ship. It is a floating museum where art, history, and identity co-exist and flow with every journey.

Here, paintings are not merely exhibited—they are lived.
Art is not only to be seen—but to be felt, cherished, and passed down.
