Reviving Faifo’s Trading Spirit, Redefining Sustainable Gastronomy in Central Vietnam
Hội An, Vietnam — As Vietnam’s tourism and hospitality sectors seek renewal through quality, culture, and sustainability, Lux F&B officially launches Vị Hội An, its sixth green restaurant, through a strategic joint venture with Vị Vietnam Group. More than an expansion, the opening represents a confident step toward redefining fine dining on Vietnam’s central coast—rooted in heritage, responsible practices, and a renewed sense of place.
Located on the poetic banks of the Hoài River, in the heart of Hội An’s ancient town, Vị Hội An draws inspiration from Faifo, the once-thriving international trading port of the 16th–18th centuries. Here, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, and French merchants converged, shaping a cosmopolitan culture that left a lasting imprint on architecture, daily life, and cuisine. Vị Hội An revives that spirit—not as nostalgia, but as a living, evolving narrative.
A Living Portrait of Hội An: Architecture, River Life, and Cuisine
Designed as a four-storey riverside house inspired by Western merchant vessels that once docked at Faifo, Vị Hội An is a refined dialogue between old and new. Natural materials, warm golden light, gardens, and balconies open toward the Thu Bồn River and the Moonlight Bridge, offering expansive views of lanterns, drifting boats, and candle-lit hoa đăng on full-moon nights.
The first and second floors are dedicated to dining, where guests experience Central Vietnamese cuisine through a “Refined Dining” approach—precise, seasonal, and quietly contemporary. Market-fresh herbs, river and sea produce, and restrained seasoning allow ingredients and local stories to take the lead. Each riverside table feels cinematic, as if seated inside a moving film where landscape, people, and flavors unfold together.
Above, the third floor and rooftop are devoted to drinks and sunset rituals. Boat on the Lymen Sunset Bar, already regarded as one of Hội An’s most compelling rooftop bars, offers sweeping views of the river and lantern-lit town. Its concept draws from an old wooden boat discovered on Cửa Đại Beach after a typhoon—an object transformed into a symbol of Hội An’s enduring maritime identity. Signature cocktails are crafted with organic herbs from Trà Quế village, weaving agriculture, terroir, and storytelling into each glass.
Sustainability as Daily Practice, Not Decoration
Sustainability at Vị Hội An is embedded in operations, not layered on as a marketing claim. Building on the pioneering legacy of Vị Huế—Vietnam’s first zero-waste restaurant—the kitchen emphasizes responsible sourcing, waste reduction, energy efficiency, and close partnerships with local farmers, fishermen, and artisans. These practices align with international Michelin Green Star criteria while remaining practical, transparent, and locally grounded.
At the opening on 18 December 2025, leaders of the project reaffirmed a long-term commitment to green gastronomy. Vị Vietnam Group shared its ambition to develop Vị Việt Nam Fine Dining across ten key destinations by 2030, positioning it as Vietnam’s most recognized green restaurant portfolio—where food, culture, arts, and sustainability meet, with Michelin and Green recognition as milestones rather than endpoints.

A Destination, Not Just a Restaurant
With Vị Hội An, Lux F&B continues to shape a national culinary map that includes Vị Hà Nội, Vị Sài Gòn, Vị Huế, Vị Phở, and Vị Saigon Times—each rooted in place, produce, and purpose. Rather than replicating a single formula, each Vị destination expresses its region’s identity.
More than a place to dine or drink, Vị Hội An Restaurant & Café is a destination experience—where Faifo’s trading spirit is retold through architecture, cuisine, river life, and service. It invites travelers to slow down, to journey from North to South Vietnam through taste, and to rediscover Hội An not as a place chasing trends, but as one confidently telling its own story—by the river, at sunset, with sustainability at its core.
