Entrepreneur Pham Ha: “The difference between personal capitalism and national capitalism is the national spirit.”
Pham Ha’s business operates in the tourism sector and owns 5-star cruise ships. In a conversation with Dan Tri, Pham Ha frequently emphasizes the importance of ethical business practices.
Doing wrong without knowing how to correct it, or knowing the law but still deliberately breaking it for personal gain, will lead to negative consequences.
In recent years, especially in 2022, there have been many violations of the law by businessmen. Looking straight at it, they certainly violate the law, but there are also opinions that in our country, the line between right and wrong is sometimes unclear, with regulations below higher-level laws, leading to the situation of “having to do wrong.” What is your perspective on this?
The system creates people, and people create the system. If the law does not serve the interests of society but only serves a certain group of people, then the law is not strict and leads to a “begging-giving” mechanism. If it’s a law, there shouldn’t be regulations below it, so maybe we should change this situation.
Society can only develop when everyone engaged in business respects the rule of law, the correct law. Our generation of businessmen has grown up after the country was unified, received proper education, and embraced many new things, so we always aspire to conduct business ethically and in accordance with the law. Doing wrong without knowing how to correct it, or knowing the law but still deliberately breaking it for personal gain, will lead to negative consequences.
As a member of the generation of businessmen born when the country began its unification, what are your thoughts on freedom in the broadest sense of the term?
The concept of freedom does not have a universal definition that applies to all countries, systems, and individuals. Some aspects of freedom are enshrined, such as freedom of thought, religion, expression, and the press. People must respect the rule of law for society to achieve civilization.
Freedom means understanding the laws and acting in accordance with them. Personally, I consider myself free and happy because I can do what I like and like what I do, and I am proud of my accomplishments. Business is the main path of life, and entrepreneurs need to achieve success with ethics and happiness.
The difference between personal capitalism and national capitalism is the national spirit.
The difference between personal capitalism and national capitalism is the national spirit. It is a noble spirit of loyalty, righteousness, and responsibility.
Businessman Pham Ha
He is considered the successor of the national entrepreneur, “King” of the Bach Thai Buoi shipyard. Through deep research into his ancestor’s life, he has learned significant lessons about ethical business practices.
“There is a saying, ‘Nhat Si, nhi Phuong, tam Xuong, tu Buoi.’ Bach Thai Buoi is ranked fourth, but his name and his teachings about business, success, and happiness have left many valuable lessons. In his business, he helped his people, served his people, and provided the foundation and strength for a class of entrepreneurs who were strong, proud of their nationality, and brought national prestige, prosperity, and independence in competition against the wealthy Chinese and powerful French at the beginning of the 20th century.
The difference between personal capitalism and national capitalism is the national spirit. It is a noble spirit of loyalty, righteousness, and responsibility. Bach Thai Buoi was kind to himself, his family, his employees, colleagues, and fellow countrymen. He conducted business with ethics, vision, and a high mission, facilitating trade and freedom of movement for the Vietnamese people, putting customers at the center and serving his fellow countrymen from the heart. Therefore, his business philosophy was sustainable and enduring. www.luxgroup.vn
