Lux Travel DMC at the Travelife Award Ceremony – Commitment to Sustainable Tourism

Lux Travel DMC (https://www.luxtraveldmc.com), a proud member of LuxGroup (https://www.luxgroup.vn), is honored to be recognized at the Travelife Award Ceremony as Vietnam’s first luxury tour operator to achieve the prestigious Travelife Certified Sustainability Award. This milestone, presented at ITB Berlin 2025, underscores Lux Travel DMC’s dedication to responsible tourism, aligning with ISO 26000 standards and the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC).

As part of the event, a quickfire “This or That” segment will take place, allowing Certified companies to showcase their sustainability perspectives in a fun, engaging manner. Below are our responses to the sample questions, reflecting our commitment to ethical, community-driven, and environmentally conscious tourism.

1. Locally-produced or Eco-friendly?

→ Locally-produced
We prioritize locally-produced goods and services to support local economies, reduce carbon footprints, and preserve cultural authenticity. By choosing local, we empower communities and promote sustainable livelihoods.

2. Environmental protection or Community wellbeing?

→ Community wellbeing
At Lux Travel DMC, we believe sustainability is about people first. A thriving community is the foundation of environmental conservation. When locals are empowered with education, fair wages, and sustainable practices, they naturally become stewards of their own environment.

3. Promoting traditional heritage or Supporting young artists?

→ Promoting traditional heritage
Cultural heritage is the essence of our tourism philosophy. From art, architecture, and cuisine to storytelling and performances, we celebrate and protect Vietnam’s rich history. Through initiatives like LuxArts Collection, we also integrate art into tourism, bridging the past and present.

4. Sustainability certification — should it stay optional or become obligatory?

→ Obligatory
If tourism is to be a force for good, sustainability must be a non-negotiable standard. Making certification obligatory ensures businesses adhere to best practices, fostering transparency, accountability, and long-term positive impact. Lux Travel DMC has embraced rigorous ESG standards, proving that sustainable travel is not just possible—it’s essential.

5. Preserving traditions or Innovating sustainably?

→ Innovating sustainably
Sustainability doesn’t mean resisting change—it means evolving while respecting cultural roots. We combine technology, eco-friendly innovations, and responsible tourism strategies to create travel experiences that honor traditions while preparing for the future.

6. Managing overtourism: Limit visitors or Educate them?

→ Educate them
Tourism should be an inclusive, enriching experience for both visitors and locals. Instead of restricting access, we focus on spreading awareness, promoting off-the-beaten-path destinations, and encouraging responsible travel behavior.
